Protein is one of the food nutrients that our body requires for growth and vitality. Proteins are called body building foods.

Importance Of Protein

  1. They are necessary for the building up of the flesh
  2. Proteins supply the raw materials for the building of protective covering like hair, nails, etc
  3. Proteins are essential for the growth of young children.
  4. Proteins help to repair old and weak tissues.


Sources Of Proteins

We get protein from the following sources:

  1. Crop or plant sources
  2. Animal sources

Plant sources of proteins include beans, groundnut, soya,   etc

Animal sources are eggs, fish, milk. Animals like cow, goat, ram, produce the meat we eat.
