Welcome to class.
CLASSIFICATION BASED ON WHERE THEY LIVE.
The place where an organism lives or dwell naturally is called its habitat. Habitat therefore is the natural environment in which an animal lives.
In previous lessons we classified farm animals based on their type of stomach, also based on their mode of feeding. In this lesson, we will classify farm animals based on the habitat where they are found.
Based on habitat, farm animals can be broadly classified into two, namely:
- Terrestrial(land) Animals
- Aquatic(Water) Animals
Terrestrial Animals: These are animals that live on land. Examples of terrestrial animals are cattle, sheep, pig, goat, horse, fow, rabbit, etc
Aquatic Animals: These are farm animals that live in water. They are the animals found in oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds etc. examples are fishes, oysters lobsters, crayfish, crabs and shrimps.
