Identification and Types of Building
Introduction
In our last lesson, we learnt the construction of shapes using metals and wood. We learnt about the properties of metals and wood and the tools that are used to construct shapes.
In this lesson, we will identify types of building and also learn about the materials needed for building.
Definition of a building
A building is a structure with a roof and walls standing permanently in one place, such as a house or factory. A building can be a house where people live, where people worship, a school, etc. this means that several kinds of activities can take place in a building as they are built for different purposes. The main purpose that a building serves is protection from adverse weather conditions like heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.
A building also provides shelter for man, so he has a place to sleep, relax and rest. A building also serves as a means of making money. People build houses and give them out to others for rent.
