TOPIC: The Holy Spirit makes us love one another
TEXT: Mark 12:30-31
The Holy Spirit is God Himself, He is love. Let us love one another for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. If God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the son of God, God abides in him and he in God. God is love and whoever abides in him. We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar, for he who does not love his brother whom he sees cannot love God whom he does not see.
God has put His love in our hearts, He did this through the Holy Spirit whom He has given us. As we study the word of God, we get to know God and love Him more.
Since God is love, He commanded us to also love by loving our neighbor as ourselves. The Holy Spirit alone can help us to love one another.
Reasons to love one another
- We are children of God
- The Lord commanded us to love
- Love reveals that God dwells in us
- God demonstrated love first, by giving His only son for us.
- When we love our neighbours, it shows we truly love God.
