Welcome to today’s class!!
We are excited to have you join our class!!
In today’s English class, we will be learning about Autobiographies
Have you wondered how you and your friends got to know about Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nelson Mandela, Nnamdi Azikiwe and some other great names?
It is because people have helped in preserving their history through books and so we get to read about their success, failures and achievements even though we never met them physically.
Biographies are different from autobiographies.
An autobiography refers to a biography written by the person it’s about.
An autobiography is also referred to as, the biography of oneself narrated by oneself. Autobiographies can take many forms, from the familiar writings made during life that were not necessarily intended for people to read or publish to a formal book-length autobiography.
Autobiography thus takes count of the autobiographer’s life from the moment of composition. While biographers generally rely on a number of documents and viewpoints, autobiography may be based entirely on the writer’s memory.
In summary, your autobiography is an account of your life, which you write yourself.
