religion

As children, you each represent different families. Just as you have different names and parents, and other things that you do in your house which other people do not do, the same applies to religion.

Religion is something you believe in, which guides how you live your life. It is a practice you devote yourself to and respect a lot.

In Nigeria, for instance, there are two major religions: Christianity and Islam. Other religions are grouped into Traditional practice. It is also important to note that there are people who do not practice any religion but they do respect other people’s religion.

However, it is important to know why religion exists and how they play a major part in our societies.

Roles of Religion

Some of the role religion play include:

  • Unification – religion plays the role of bringing people together. By doing so, people are able to live in peace and harmony with one another.
  • Support – religion is also another form in which people seek for and receive support, whether financial, morally or spiritually.
  • Love – since the majority of religions preaches love, it is a way in which people can learn to love each other.
